John James Audubon "Birds of America"Institute de France EditionHand Colored Copper Plate EngravingsLimited Edition (300)Double Elephant Folio ( 29.5" x 41.5") |
| Institute de France images are copper plate engravings after the original John James Audubon 'Birds of America' images. These exceptional images were created through a collaboration of master artists and overseen by the Institute de France. Engraving was done by Jacque David with hand coloring by Jacomet. A total of three of the most popular images were completed in limited edition of 300 prints. Each print is a dramatic 'double elephant' folio size of 29.5" by 41.5" on watermarked BFK Rives 100% cotton rag paper. Each print carries in the bottom left corner the same credit to Audubon as found on the original engravings. On the right bottom corner is the credit for the engraver " Engraved by Jacque David-1987" and to the colorist "Colored by Jacomet-Paris". This distinguishes this work as both unique and authentic in itself, so as not to be confused with the originals. Each spectacular image is individually numbered and embossed with the Institute de France edition seal. The Institute de France prints are one of the few and rare opportunities to own hand-colored prints after the original Audubon 'Birds of America'. |
